PERFECT BLACK DRESS FOR NYE PARTY!

For many people, the holiday season is a time to look your best. There are so many parties; work parties, family get-togethers, Friendsgiving, etc. I like to look my best always, but most of all remain comfortable mostly because of all the food I plan to consume at all the parties (don't judge). Today is the last day of the year I know most of you are running around trying to get the perfect NYE dress to ring in the New Year with. Although I will be cozied up on my couch tonight, I still wanted to share with you this beautiful dress from Bardot (linked below) I think will be perfect for your NYE parties.

HOW TO WEAR AN OVERSIZED SWEATER

Sweaters are a great staple for the holidays because they are so cozy in this cold and snowy winter season. This sweater (linked below) is perfect because it has a really nice shape and a flattering oversized appeal to it. Pair an oversized sweater/top tucked into a fitted skirt/pant like the one I have on to maintain a slender fit.

As the year comes to an end I had to make a post about my absolute favorite beauty collection that debuted this year. If you have been following me for a while you know my love for Rihanna is real, so that love easily transcended unto her beauty products when she launched Fenty Beauty.  First of all, let me just say my sis collection is "diversity done right". Her line is seriously what women of color like me have been yearning for, for years. 

CHRISTMAS IN MY CALVINS

Merry Christmas everyone!!! I still pinch myself that it's Christmas, and the new year is only a couple of days away. Ah, where did time go? I picked this red dress (linked below), not only because it's the perfect festive dress, but because it was truly love at first sight, I knew it was the one right away. Sidenote it's really difficult to find a red dress in December ...

GOLD STRIPED VELVET 2-PIECE SET

2 piece sets are right up my alley, especially for a quick grab and go outfit. I love this one from Zara (linked below) mostly because it is super comfortable and light. It is very festive and can be dressed up or dressed down. I dressed it down by pairing it with my gold strappy sandals from Windsor (linked below) and also seen in my last post here.

CROSSOVER STRIPED TOP WITH VELVET PANTS

Hey guys! It's been so long I have been away from here :-(  I can't believe it's almost been a year of not being here, I need to be spanked. Ha! I am so sorry. I needed the break to refocus and really get a lot of things together, especially with what direction I wanted to go with my blog, I started to feel like I wasn't really growing or really embodying what I am about as a person but most importantly my style and sense of fashion wasn't really being represented to a T on here.

 I am back now however and back for good. I do have a lot to catch you guys up on but all that will come later :-) So moving forward, I will be posting more about fashion and styling as that is what I believe I have been gifted by God to do. I will still do a few other types of posts here and there but expect mostly seeing my style and how I would put outfits together,  I will say why I chose to put a particular outfit together; educating in a sense!

For this first outfit (all linked at the end of the post) I decided to go with a complete head-to-toe Zara outfit as it is a mainstream brand that most young adults can identify with. I love Zara because their clothing has a high-end European feel to it but for a much more affordable price. 

iChose the top because I love the plunging neckline of the top and how it shows off my collar-bones which I think is super flattering especially if you're a skinny girl like me. I also love the crossover on the top because it gives the illusion that you have a much smaller waist than you do (who doesn't love a small waist), also the vertical stripes on the top makes you appear skinnier :-) Finally, purple is my favorite color ever so it was a match made in heaven. 

When iSaw the pants, it just made sense to pair them both together not only because it was purple and they match, but because wide-leg pants/trousers add so much volume to a top that already makes you appear super skinny. Together it was just right. I paired it with my Gucci Dionysus medium GG shoulder bag, my gold Micheal Kors chain watch, and my gold sandals from Windsor I got earlier this year.

Vogue Magazine casts its first plus size model Ashley Graham but receives tons of Backlash

Vogue Magazine which has been around for 125 years released it's March issue recently showcasing 7 models including Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid who were front and center. However, the model of intrest and most talked about was 29 year old plus-size model Ashley Graham.

The models posed with prada turtle neck tops and beach shorts to celebrate women of all shapes, age, color, seize and weights. Unfortunately, the magazine received a lot of backlash and readers are criticizing 2 things.

My Travel Essentials

Hey guys as many of you may know, if you follow me on social media and you should (IG here, Snapchat chifyy and Twitter here ), I recently took a trip to the big apple. I am planning a move to New York in a couple of months and I wasn’t too sure on the move yet but this trip definitely made me 100% certain NYC is where I need to be.  The people, the vibes, the sophisticated sense of fashion, and the lifestyle are right up my alley.  Anyway, packing is very essential for any trip, which to be honest is one of my least favorite parts of travel. Therefore, on this post I share a few tips and tricks below of how to make this process a little easier.
