How to look RICH when you're NOT

Who said you have to break the bank to look like a million bucks. I mean it would be nice to have a million bucks but for now, we gotta fake it till we make it. So today I will show you tips and tricks into fooling everyone that you got a lot of coins in your bank account. From picking the right accessories, wearing the right lipsticks, and if all else fails make your own clothes to save you even more coins.

PICKING THE RIGHT FABRIC

I can't tell you how important this one is. It's so easy to not pay attention to this when we shop especially when we see an item on SALE!!! Please look out for the label on the clothing as fabrics like polyester, rayon, acrylic & nylon are poor choices of fabrics because they cling to your body and make your entire look ill-fitting. Suede, cotton, and silk are better fabric choices that still look good even after a few washes and will drape over your skin, not cling to it.

WEAR ALL BLACK

This one comes easily for me because seeing as I am a model. The first thing you get told is to love wearing black. I mean there must be a reason why the fashion center of the world New York and its residents all wear mostly black. Black is a versatile color and has a history of hiding imperfections. Dark fabric can also hide the quality of the material,  hides stains, discoloration and even better, it looks great on any skin tone.

ADD A LEATHER JACKET

A holy grail for every fashion model is the leather jacket. I don't know one model that doesn't own one. It's a total staple that every single person should add to their wardrobe because it looks great with anything. Whether faux leather from bargain stores like TjMaxx, or real leather jacket from All Saints, leather jackets are a must-have. Avoid shiny or fringe leather jackets as they can easily look cheap. Go for sturdier ones, I especially like the ones with gold zippers; it makes it look like you spent a ton.

SHOP DISCOUNT STORES

Take advantage of bargain stores like TjMaxx, Ross, Marshalls, etc to find designer items at discounted prices. I once bought a Ralph Lauren bag that was initially $450 at TjMaxx for only $99. These stores will give you the best buys for your buck. Even Kate Middleton shops at TkMaxx. #justsaying

BUY DESIGNER INSPIRED PIECES

If you're feeling a little bit more generous with your wallet then try a mainstream store like H&M, Zara, and Forever XXI to find generic designer pieces. A lot of the times these stores wait till after fashion week to note items that are loved during shows then they re-create similar pieces to make them available to discount buyers like you and me. If you're really not trying to break the bank then thrift stores are always a good source for designer pieces.

WEAR LIPSTICK

The iconic Audrey Hepburn was mostly seen spotting a coral or fire red lipstick with her outfits. Red, for example, commands attention and looks great on an all-black outfit. Merlot, Sangari, and Burgundy are also really great choices for the fall/winter season.

ACCESSORIZE WITH SCARVES

Scarves can transform your whole entire outfit and can be worn year round. Cotton, wool, and synthetic fibers scarves are great to keep you warm this winter. Trade in for Chiffon and silk which are made of a lighter material in the spring and summer. Scarves instantly make you look expensive and can be worn by both guys and girls.

SUNGLASSES

As a girl obsessed with her sunglasses, let's start with oversized ones. This has been seen on so many celebrities on screen or out and about on Hollywood. Invest in sunglasses that flatter your face and show off your bone structure. Fr example if you have a round face round sunglasses wouldn't look good on your face frame, Invest in square ones and vice-versa. Your sunglasses don't have to be a million bucks to make you look expensive, again stores like H&M and Forever XXI usually have trendy sunglasses as low as $6. I will advise you find one staple shade that goes with everything, black recommended.

SHOES

We can't talk about everything we are gonna throw at our body and forget shoes. Your shoes can either make or break your outfit. Pointy shoes make your outfit look expensive. Also, neutral shoes like a nice nude pair wouldn't hurt to have in your collection.

MAKE YOUR OWN CLOTHES

Finally, if all else fails, make your own custom-made clothes. If you have a knack for sewing and DIY this is a great option for you. Personalized pieces fit you like a glove. There are so many tutorials online that can give you a headstart. Pinterest is also a great resource for inspiration on DIY. Custom-made clothes save you tons of extra money and you won't find anybody else dressed like you. #Igot99problemsbutastitchaintone..lol Which hack was your favorite? 2. I definitely agree with the above tips. I also recommend to invest in a few chic pieces of jewelry that are timeless and never goes out of style such as bangles and dainty necklaces.
